Overall, I’m so happy with this.By now, the idea of “juicing” sounds rather passé, and because it’s passé it has actually become a way of life for many, especially for the two friends who started the whole juicing craze in the first place: the original juicing enthusiasts, Erica Huss, co-founder, with Zoe Sakoutis, of the Brooklyn-based BluePrint Cleanse. Surprisingly I’ve had no digestional problems with the increase in fiber. I also had a handful of raw almonds on day 2 when I was so tired. When I do get hungry I have carrots, celery, or cucumber that didn’t go into that days smoothies. Since Day 3 I increased the protein and am feeling much better. Thank goodness I added protein or else who know what would have happened. Day 2 and 3 were the worst, I had a mild headache and was so tired I could barely get through my work day. Other people have reported an increase in energy and I am the opposite! Day 1 was normal (I just wanted to snack like crazy even though I knew I wasn’t hungry). I know, adding things can take away some of the benefits of the cleanse but I’m very happy with this so far! 4 apples a day is a lot so I cut it down to 3 and use a half a banana to spread out some nutrients. I’ve added some other veggies (like bell pepper, cabbage) just because I had them in the house and didn’t want them to go bad. The last drink of the day I make hot and add some guar gum to thicken it up so it’s more like a dessert. I calculate I’m drinking about 150 oz of liquid a day (normally I drink at least 100 so it really isn’t that much more). With the spicy lemonade I make a 1/2 gallon and drink that throughout the day. I don’t have a juicer so I’m just using the blender and adding water this way I get plenty of fiber. The biggest thing I changed was adding a veggie based protein powder because there is very little protein to sustain this. I decided to do a modified versions of this (I suck at following recipes, I love adding what smells good at the time) and I’m on day 6 (decided to do 10 days). Whichever you choose, be sure to soak the nuts in a bowl of water for at least three hours before blending. You can use raw almonds if you would like. The sixth and final juice of the day is the delicious cashew milk. Be sure to wash your cutting board and blender/juicer immediately after making this as to avoid any beet stains! And definitely don’t grab the pitcher with slippery fingers and shatter the pitcher on the floor, leaving a really fun beet juice murder scene. The fifth juice is carrots, apple and beets. Confession…day two and three I skipped the cayenne pepper. This lemonade is by far my least favorite drink of the day. This is similar to the master cleanse drink that I tried in college for about four hours. The fourth drink you’ll have each day is the spicy lemonade. I can picture adding a little rum and an umbrella straw and sitting on the beach… Use more or less mint to your liking – whatever you prefer! I love mint so added a small handful. The second juice you will drink each day is pineapple, apple and mint. Do whatever is easier for you! If you want to make one day’s worth of juice at a time, double this green juice recipe. That way I have a full day’s worth and I can have a fresh batch everyday. I like to make all the juices for the day the evening before. The first juice is the green juice that you’ll drink first and third a day for three days. I would recommend a farmer’s market or local supplier if you have one available! These ingredients cost me about $40 at a local community-owned grocery store. Let’s start with the overall grocery list of what you’ll need. I felt energized and awake each day and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to kick start a diet or change things up. BUT I mostly drank the juice, and I just wanted a healthy eating head start. ![]() I slipped a quinoa-spinach-avocado-egg dinner one day and maybe had a handful or two of yogurt covered raisons another day. I think I’ll keep making these even when not on the cleanse.ĭid I follow this cleanse exactly like I should have….no. Some of these juices really are so good – like the pinapple-apple-mint juice and cashew milk. I like to put my juices in cute glasses because deep down in my heart it makes me miss chips and salsa a little bit less. $250 for three days worth of juice seems a little pricey when there are so many DIY recipes out there, so I thought I would give it a whirl! I have heard so much about the BluePrintCleanse and have been curious to see what all the fuss is about. ![]() I recently took to juicing in my Vitamix now that I have a nut milk bag to drain some of the pulp.
